The Insta360 X5 Standard Lens Guards are designed to offer crucial protection for the lenses of the Insta360 X5 camera, safeguarding them against daily wear and tear, scratches, and minor impacts without significantly compromising image quality.

• Material and Protection: Constructed from reinforced 7H hardness glass, these lens guards provide a strong and scratch-resistant barrier for the X5’s delicate lenses. They are intended to absorb damage that might otherwise affect the camera’s primary optics. The materials also include plastic and neodymium magnets. 
• Optical Performance: The lens guards are customized to maximize light transparency and maintain picture quality. They feature a coating process designed to ensure image clarity and are engineered to match the X5’s shooting angle, which helps in preventing stitching lines in 360° panoramic shots. However, Insta360 notes that the guards may slightly affect the camera’s stitching ability, recommending users point one lens directly at the subject for optimal results. Dirty or worn lens guards can negatively impact image quality.   
• Ease of Use: Installation and removal are designed to be straightforward with a simple twist-on, twist-off mechanism. Users need to align a notch on the lens guard with a slot on the camera lens and rotate clockwise to secure it. The camera is designed to automatically detect when the lens guards are installed or removed and activates a “Lens Guard Mode,” adjusting settings accordingly. An icon will appear on the camera’s status bar when this mode is enabled. 
• Not Waterproof: A critical point to note is that the Standard Lens Guards are not waterproof. Using them in wet conditions is not recommended as their seal can allow moisture to enter, potentially causing fogging between the guard and the camera lens. If they do get wet, thorough drying with a soft cloth is necessary.   

• Dimensions and Weight: Each lens guard measures approximately 35.7mm x 35.2mm x 11.65mm and weighs around 4.2 grams.
